DARE Fun Day SeniorStars
Year 5/6 classes completed the DARE programme in Term 3. This was taken by Constable Hayden. As a reward for the class and homework completed, 5 classes were treated to a fun day in Palmerston North, playing mini golf and bowls at the Leisureplex venue and swimming at the Lido. A fantastic day! Many thanks to the DARE group for the great day out and to the parents who came along also for the day.
SEEDS FOR SCHOOLS TERM 4
Kelly Slater from the Department of Conservation came to school on Wednesday 21st October and each of the Senior Stars Year 5/6 classes had an opportunity to plant out in root training trays the seeds planted in Term 1. These will then be looked after by Awapuni Nurseries until they are big enough to be planted out at a beach in order to help preservation of sand dunes.
The Year 3/4's had a super time on their camp in March. There was lots to do...earthboards, BMX riding, bush walks, river time, stone statues, food relays, making damper and roasting marshmallows. The children learnt how to respect each other, their environment and the importance of the bush. Here are some of their reflections, created using comic life!
PLANTING AT TANGIMOANA BEACH July 2009!
On Tuesday 28th July two classrooms went off to Tangimoana Beach to plant spinifex. The children were working in conjuction with D.O. C. This has been a long term project that the Year 5 and 6's have been involved in, as part of respecting and caring for the environment. Check out the cool photos!
